Malayalam actor Kalpana no more

National award-winning Malayalam actor Kalpana is no more.

Kalpana, who had won the national award the best actor in a supporting role in the film Njaan Thanichalla (2012), died reportedly due to a heart attack at a hotel in Hyderabad during early hours on Monday.

She was in Hyderabad for the shooting of a Telugu and a Tamil film and to attend the HAIFA award function.

Kalpana, 51, had made her debut in M.T. Vasudevan Nair's film Manj in 1983 and has acted in around 300 films. Her latest Malayalam film Charlie is still running in cinemas across Kerala.

She is survied by her actor-sister Urvashi.

Kalpana has done a variety of roles in Tamil starting from K.Bhagyaraj's hit move in the 1980s Chinna Veedu. Kalpana's role in Kamal Haasan's Sathi Leelavathi and Pammal K. Sambandam was widely appreciated.

In Tamil, she was last seen as Siva Karthikeyan's mother in Khaaki Sattai.
